Fluminense Football Club is seeking to sign Nino, 2023 Libertadores champion. The negotiation with Zenit is ongoing, but faces obstacles.

The start of negotiations

The negotiation between Fluminense and Zenit began in July 2025, after the Club World Cup. At the time, Zenit stated that they did not intend to sell Nino at that moment.

Change of direction from Zenit

In December last year, Zenit changed its position and backed down on the possibility of the player's departure. In addition to Fluminense, Palmeiras and Cruzeiro also made inquiries about signing Nino.

Current status

With the end of the European season, Zenit gave the green light for clubs to send official proposals. Fluminense took the lead and made an official offer this week, but it was rejected.

Next steps

If Zenit remains inflexible regarding the proposed offer, Fluminense will need to find a solution to sign Nino. The player is interested in leaving Russia and returning to Brazil.
