The team, led by coach Thiago Macedo, returned to the field after a 3-0 win in the first round against Santos, at Estádio Marcelo Vieira, in Xerém. Fluminense Football Club is seeking its third consecutive championship in the category and has been undefeated for over a month. The team will face Bangu, at 10am, in Moça Bonita, in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Carioca Championship. The game was marked by several scoring opportunities, but Fluminense Football Club managed to open the score with a goal from Carlos Miguel, two minutes into the second half. Flamengo lost a player to expulsion at 21 minutes and was unable to equalize the score. Fluminense Football Club continues undefeated and seeks its third consecutive championship in the category.
